About Puzzle Pals "The first Puzzle Pal was created in 1987 to honor the birth of my godson, Gregory. A few years later I rediscovered this idea, and over the years have designed and made hundreds of Puzzle Pals." — Marcia Wiley An uncommon spelling or an unusual name can be creatively accommodated as well as more traditional children's names. I have successfully designed Puzzle Pals for any name of 5 letters or more (11-13 letters is about the max). Lately, I have been creating puzzles that combine a first + middle name or first + initial within the 5 to 13 letter range. The animals usually tell me which Puzzle Pal clan each name belongs to. If you have a particular animal in mind for your child, please note it on the order form and I will try to honor your request. However, I may need to choose a different animal for a name based on design criteria. I will communicate any changes with you via e-mail before your puzzle order is processed. In the Puzzle Pal workshop, the material used is a high-quality birch plywood. All edges are sanded smooth for safe handling and the puzzles are finished with bright colored stains and non-toxic, environmentally-safe polyurethane finish. Overall size of each puzzle is ~8" x 10" x 1/2" thick. The size and number of puzzle pieces vary with each name.
